Israel Immunizes almost 800,000 People with the First Dose

With almost 800 thousand first doses of the vaccine, Israel confirms itself as the world's leading country in terms of the number of immunized people with a percentage of 7.74% of the total population, about 9 million. Only yesterday - said Health Minister Yuli Edelstein - over 150 thousand doses were injected, above, albeit slightly, the average indicated by the government.
To date, the total of the first vaccinations has almost doubled the number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic, which adds up to about 480,000.

As evidence of the extensive vaccination campaign underway, from today in Tel Aviv in the central Rabin Square will open a vaccination center set up by the Municipality and the Ichilov hospital to continue immunizing the over 60s.
According to Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, the goal is to reach over 2.5 million people by the end of January. However - despite Israel being in lockdown, the third since the start of the pandemic - new infections continue to grow. In the last 24 hours, there have been 5,253 cases with a rate of 5.5% compared to 95,125 tests.

In preparation for the holidays for the new year, the police have prepared plans to prevent illegal gatherings: there will be about 2 thousand agents on the field to monitor compliance with the restrictions imposed by the lockdown.
